18th Century Caps & Bonnets Workshop - July 13th and 14th, Fort at No. 4
July 13th and 14th, 9:30am to 3:30pm both days. Location, the Fort at No. 4, 267 Springfield Rd, Charlestown, NH 03603
In this two day workshop we will explore a variety of 18th century cap and bonnet styles from the 1740s to the 1780s. Attendees will have the opportunity to try on ready-made examples of caps and bonnets and select one of each that best suits their tastes and living history needs. Pre-cut kits and instructions are included in the cost of the workshop with additional cap and bonnet kits and supplies available for purchase on site. Basic hand sewing knowledge is required. Limit 8 people.
Day one will focus on 18th century women's caps with an emphasis on how to recognize and identify different styles in period art, construction and trimming techniques, and tips on how to wear your cap. Attendees will have the option of selecting one of the standard Larkin & Smith cap designs in a variety of fabrics or a new, yet to be released design.
Day two will focus on 18th century women's bonnets with an emphasis on how to recognize and identify different styles in period art, construction and trimming techniques, and tips on how to wear your bonnet. Attendees will have the option of selecting the standard Larkin & Smith bonnet or one of two new, yet to be released, Golden Scissors bonnet designs.
An email with pre workshop information including fabric options for your kits, directions to the workshop location and suggested lodging will be sent out prior to the workshop. Complimentary snacks provided (please notify us of any food restrictions). Students should plan to bring a bag lunch both days.
